Happy Birthday Whispers of a Legend!

Life is good. Whispers of a Legend saga was released a year ago today!

This is a great month. I love the Fall. It’s my favorite time of the year. Also over on Novel Works, I’m hosting Octoberfest With Books. I love it. You know why…because I get to meet some really great authors and people. I’m an avid reader. I so enjoy reading.  Just got through with a book by Johanna Lindsey, Let Love Find You. I have so many favorite authors, but Johanna Lindsey is high on my list.
You know how you get a craving at times. I know I do. Like I just found the best buffalo cheese spread that is awesome. Can’t keep it in my house. I get cravings for books by certain authors too—like now—I can’t get enough of Johanna Lindsey.
That’s why I enjoy Octoberfest With Books so much. I always find an author that I get hooked on. The first two weeks have gone awesome. I love hosting Wild Rose Press Authors. I have to say they are great interacting and supporting each other.

Then, of course, Crescent Moon Press… I have a soft spot for Crescent Moon Press. This month marks a year that I released my first Indie book. Whispers of a Legend saga was published because of Crescent Moon Press. Let me explain. Whispers of a Legend is different from any other book I’ve written. I was attending the New England Romance Writers Conference. I had the opportunity to present a book to Crescent Moon Press who was in attendance.
Crescent Moon Press publishes paranormal and fantasy stories. I don’t have any problem writing paranormal, but the only book I had was one I wrote years and years ago. I presented it to Crescent Moon with no expectations. It was a different type of story, not falling into any particular genre.
I was pleasantly surprised when Crescent Moon Press said they liked it and thought it had a lot of potential. I submitted the whole manuscript. Then while Crescent Moon Press was considering Whispers, I decided to go Indie with a few books. I picked Whispers as my first attempt. I did so because Crescent Moon Press gave me the confidence that my book could be successful. When I withdrew my submission, they couldn't have been more supportive.
That was a year ago... and what a year! A year today...I remember it well because it was my birthday. It's one of the reason I enjoy being an Indie. You have control of such things like release dates.
I have so much to be thankful for this year. I've learned so much. I have so many people to thank for this, friends, authors and readers. I can't tell you how grateful I am.
My catch phase for Whispers of a Legend...The Legend continues... and so it does.

WOOL by Hugh Howey

Over 2,000 reviews on Amazon alone with a 5 star rating. I'm a huge fan of Hugh Howey. Released only in July 2011- This one I highly recommend!

This is the story of mankind clawing for survival, of mankind on the edge. The world outside has grown unkind, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they profess to want: They are allowed outside.

The Darkening Dream

I love fantasy book like this one. Another book that is highly reveiwed.

The Darkening Dream is the chilling new dark fantasy novel by Andy Gavin, creator of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter.

Even as the modern world pushes the supernatural aside in favor of science and steel, the old ways remain. God, demon, monster, and sorcerer alike plot to regain what was theirs.

1913, Salem, Massachusetts - Sarah Engelmann's life is full of friends, books, and avoiding the pressure to choose a husband, until an ominous vision and the haunting call of an otherworldly trumpet shake her. When she stumbles across a gruesome corpse, she fears that her vision was more of a premonition. And when she sees the murdered boy moving through the crowd at an amusement park, Sarah is thrust into a dark battle she does not understand.
With the help of Alex, a Greek immigrant who knows a startling amount about the undead, Sarah sets out to uncover the truth. Their quest takes them to the factory mills of Salem, on a midnight boat ride to spy on an eerie coastal lair, and back, unexpectedly, to their own homes. What can Alex's elderly, vampire-hunting grandfather and Sarah's own rabbi father tell them? And what do Sarah's continuing visions reveal?
No less than Gabriel's Trumpet, the tool that will announce the End of Days, is at stake, and the forces that have banded to recover it include a 900 year-old vampire, a trio of disgruntled Egyptian gods, and a demon-loving Puritan minister. At the center of this swirling cast is Sarah, who must fight a millennia-old battle against unspeakable forces, knowing the ultimate prize might be herself.

Pegasus Falling

PEGASUS FALLING by William E Thomas

I was touched by the story behind this book. Written by William E. Thomas but it came to be published because of his grandson. William Thomas has Alzheimer’s now. I admire his grandson's affection for his grandfather and his willingness to help get his grandfather's story out.

“Powerful, raw and emotive” The Kindle Book Review
"This is an intriguing story, gripping from the first page to the last and full of sorrow, happiness, kindness and heartbreak" Zohar Laor,
“A marvellously panoramic story of how individuals dealt with the devastation of war” Damaskcat, Top 50 Reviewer

Arnhem, 1944. Captain Stanley Adam Malcolm Parker - Sammy to his friends - and his platoon have fought bravely, but it was always a losing battle. The bridge was unwinnable. After he and his men are forced into cattle trucks and transported across Germany on a three day journey without food or water, Sammy lashes out at an SS officer with brutal and devastating consequences...for him and his German opponent.

Instead of spending the rest of his war as a POW, Sammy is sent to a concentration camp.

Spared an immediate death, Sammy discovers firsthand the full horror of the final solution. Amongst the desperation and destitution of the camp, he encounters Naomi, a Jewish housewife from Dresden. Having seen her family murdered, Naomi has learned to survive by making the most unimaginable of sacrifices. She is the woman who Sammy comes to depend on to survive himself.

But when the camp is finally liberated, the couple are separated and Sammy embarks on a journey across a continent devastated by war and wracked by ongoing tensions to find out what happened to the woman he loves.

I love romance...especially good ones. What can I say?

After years of hard work and keeping her nose firmly to the grindstone, Dr. Holly Bell has finally achieved her dream: a position as a pediatric surgeon at a prestigious teaching hospital. Children's lives rest in her skilled hands. That means total dedication to her work and her patients without letting anything or anyone get in the way. And a hot affair with a superstar athlete is most definitely getting in Holly's way.

Nate Carter, star pitcher for the Philadelphia Patriots, has the world in the palm of his baseball glove. He's at the height of his game, a west coast team is about to lure him with even greater riches, and the most gorgeous women in town are in full pursuit. Nate has everything he wants, or at least he thinks he does, until he meets the beautiful and brainy Dr. Holly Bell. He's totally up for a hot affair, and Holly turns out to be the hottest.

But will Holly be willing to play his game? When the lovely doctor starts changing the rules, Nate realizes he just might be playing for keeps.

A short nice read if you like Regency Romance's....I do.

Tess struggles with the news of Beau's death and tries to put her life back together. Alone and dealing with a pregnancy that only reminds her of what she has lost, Tess is adrift in a world of failed plans and fallen expectations. When a new client appears offering more than just a new project, Tess must confront the circumstances of her life head on.
