I'm doing something I normally don't do. This is the exact post that I listed today over on Jerri Hines, Romance Author. I won't be doing this often but wanted to acknowledge the winners of last week book giveaway and it's not everyday that Pride and Prejudice turns 200!

Back on January 28th, 1813, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen was published. So launched one of the most beloved romances! It has become one of the most loved books of all time. Pride and Prejudice captures our imagination and pulls us into the world according to Elizabeth Bennett.

There is so much to love about Pride and Prejudice. I remember reading and rereading it in my youth. I also remember my joy when as an adult I picked the book back up at the library. It felt like I was reading it for the first time. Reading it felt like going home. In a sense, I guess I did. I relate Pride and Prejudice to a happy time and reading it allows me an escape from reality if only for a brief moment.

I was trying to think specifically what I loved the most about Pride and Prejudice. Ms Austen did a magnificent job of capturing the era. I confess my picture of the Regency period is reflective of this book. The storyline has held through out time. Ms Austen weaves a wonderful tale of romance and the rocky road it entails. But I believe that I love the characters the best in Pride and Prejudice.  Elizabeth Bennett has to be one of my all time favorite characters for numerous reason. Mostly, I loved her spirit.

I don't think I have to analyze Pride and Prejudice. It has been analyzed and discussed many times in its 200 years. What I can do for you if you haven't read Pride and Prejudice in a while is link you up to the Amazon site for a free download of the book.

I hope you enjoy the moment as I do. Happy 200th Birthday, Pride and Prejudice!

Decisions, Decisions....Decisions

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Seems like thats all I've been doing lately. Some have been fun, like picking out covers. I have some more decisions to make about covers at the moment.

Broken Legacy is done. The Beta readers have it at the moment. The initial feedback has me excited. Next step is the editor...then on to you guys! Still on schedule.

The decision I have at the moment is dealing with the Winds of Betrayal Series. The major decision deals with how I am going to handle the series now its back in my hands. Patriot Secrets' rights reverted back to me. It's a long book...extremely long for an ebook. So, I have it in my head to split it up into two parts. The first...the shorter Williamsburg...and then make it free. So that means new titles. Revamping...shouldn't take too long.

That will mean changing up the titles of the books, blurbs...See another decisision.

With trying to get Broken Legacy set, I've kinda pushed my blogs back a tad. So let's see if I can make up for it a little. How about a giveaway?

In the mood for an epic fantasy or haven't gotten the lastest installment of Whispers of a Legend! Would you like a signed copy of Whispers of a Legend, Part Four- Time of the Nuxvenom! Or how about a copy of Seductive Secrets...or Another Night Falls! Or if you prefer any of my ebooks. It'll be your choice.

So leave a comment here....Colleen Connally's website, Jerri Hines, Romance Author...Novel Works...Whispers of a Legends Saga on Facebook (new page)...
Follow me on twitter make sure you leave me a message telling me you would love a chance for one of my books at @jhines340  @carriejhaynes or @colleenconnally

I'll give away a book a week until Broken Legacy is released.

I love my covers to my Whispers of a Legend. Lately, though, I've had a few readers ask me why I don't have pictures of my hero and heroine on the cover. I'm not going to be revamping my covers to Whispers of Legend anytime soon. I love the covers. I feel it allows one to use their imagination as a bridge into the world of flying Sordarins and the magic world of Witheleghe.

But I know what they're talking about. It does help to visualize your hero especially one with bulging muscles and wings. Can't you just picture Cono flying in the air with leather bands cris-crossed across his chest? High in a cloudless sky...flying over the mountain side or over the Kampar River! Perhaps he's in battle! Or better yet with Kela in his arms!

So I was thinking who fits the description of Cono in my mind...I came up with a couple of choices.
How about Jacob from Twilight? I took a poster from Twilight of Jacob. I linked it to the picture...not quite sure of legality of putting pictures up on blogs now a days. So I'll just link to the picture. But I have another one that when I saw him I thought immediately of Cono...His name is J D Padro. He stars in the NBC show, Revolution.

Just a couple of thoughts. Never seen either with wings on their back and flying through the air. What do you think? Who would you cast as Cono in your version?

Would you the reader like for the next cover to vary from the others and have flying Sordarins on the cover?
What is your preference?

Happy New Year!

I'm looking forward to 2013! I have a whole list of resolutions... Nothing out of the ordinary. Just wish I could stay on the right track with resolutions. I mean too...then I get caught up in a book, work, the kids...

Life gets in my way.

But I love making resolutions. Makes me feel as though I have some semblance of control. I don't. Does anyone really? I was thinking about that when I was driving through a snow storm the other night. The older I get, the more I question what in the world was I thinking driving in a blinding snow storm? Living in the Northeast for twenty-eight years, I got over the fact it snows up here. People don't hide in their homes until the sun melts it. No, New Englanders go right out there in the middle of it without blinking an eye. And I have driven in blizzards. Have to...don't have a choice. I work at a hospital. Hospitals don't shut down for the weather. Above all, although understanding, we always get that little Stormcast email telling us we are essential personal and are expected to come in for our shift. I guess it's nice to be wanted, but I know you're going to find me on the side of the road one day having skidded into an embankment.

What was even worse to me when I got home the next morning after the storm—we didn't have electricity. Now, I grew up in the boonies...way, way out in the country...and to be honest we never lost power like I do now. It can go out for days sometimes. Can someone explain it to me why? Okay, I'll admit I'm a wimp. I need my electricity. I need my computer. I need my internet.

My daughters are home for the holidays and they watch all those reality shows. The other day one of the them was watching people preparing for the end of the world—for all types of reasons—nuclear war, gasoline shortage...oh, I don't know all the reasons...but I've come to the conclusion that it might be for the best if I'm wiped out in the first wave of the apocalypse. Don't think I would be the best in survivor mode. But according to the apocalypse movies-Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow-It seems to be a pretty safe bet that Boston is wiped out early on. Besides the fact even given any warning we would be stuck in a traffic jam until it hit.

Now what was I doing? Oh, yeah, going to talk about Bright Beginnings.

Really, I do feel that 2013 is a Bright Beginning. Looking back on 2012-

Whispers of a Legend, Volume I
